CEROXYLON QUINDINUENSE
It´s the tallest palm in the world. We can find them in the Colombian Andes. Actually is the national tree from Colombia. Also called the wax palm . Grows up to 164 ft tall not only is the tallest palm but the tallest monocot in the world.The leaves are dark green with a petiole up to 6.56 ft . The trunk is cylindrical and covered with wax. Can live a 100 years and it is a slow grown plant.
CORYPHA UMBRACULIFERA
Is the most inflorescence plant. Can reach 29.53 ft tall and 9.84 ft wide and has 24.000.000 of flowers. When fruits appears the palm died . It´s from Southern India.
ELAEIS GUINENSIS
Has the biggest compound fruit in the world. The fruit are 55.12 lbs and it´s compouse d for 4ooo oil fruit. It´s appreciate for it´s oil. The palm is from Malaysia
LODOICEA MALDIVICA
Has the biggest fruit. It can weight
66.14 lbs. Mature in 30 years . This palm also has the biggest seed.
PHYTELEPHAS MACROCARPA
Is the hardest seed in the world . The seed is called marfil vegetable and it´s use to make ,rings,plates,etc.
SOCRATEA EXORRHIZA(WALKING PALM)
The palm grows in Central America and South America . It can grow 82 ft in high. It has unusual roots . This roots allow the palm to walk away from the point of germination if another tree falls and knocks it over. Also walks if need it to reach the sunny area.
TAHINA SPECTABILIS- SUICIDAL PALM
It´s from Madagascar . It´s a new species. Has a solitary trunk ,which holds a giant crown that flowers only once in its life with a spectacular white inflorescence that forms from the center of the crown. When the fruits matured tha palm dies
HYOPHORBE LAGENICAULIS- BOTTLE PALM
This palm grows slowly to a high of 10 to 20 ft. The trunk is rounded bulge in young specimens and gradually elongates. A small crown consisting of 4 to 8 pinnate leaves. It belongs to Mascarene Island and are said to be fewer than 15 specimens.
